Evergreen Safety Watch

The purpose of this website is to:

  • Inform the Evergreen public about public safety issues in Evergreen, both physical and financial, by providing unbiased facts and
  • Inform the Evergreen public about the communications to officials to resolve the issues together with the current state of resolution and
  • To provide options for public action to acquire “health, safety, prosperity, security, and general welfare” for the people of Evergreen, and for all “of the people of the state of Colorado.”

Evergreen is a CDP (Census Designated Place). It has no local democratic government and no public identity. According to the Evergreen Chamber of Commerce the population is 25,766 souls (U.S. 2010 Census: 9,038) with a per capita income of $59,740, more than is enjoyed by some Home Rule Cities in the state. And Evergreen is still growing.

Evergreen taxpayers have repeatedly opened their wallets to pay the interest on bond issues so that buildings for community use could be constructed and improved (schools, recreation centers, libraries, fire houses). So the public has an interest in their proper protection and insurance coverage should replacement become necessary. Consequently taxpayers cannot escape a responsibility for public safety. So, to increase your awareness of, and take ownership and responsibility for some public safety issues in Evergreen do the following on this website.

1. First read about the past and continuing events that detail an existing public safety issue in Evergreen ===> Initial Event, Repeating Events (2019 & 2020)

2. Next read all the communications sent to officials in an attempt to explain the issues, offer solutions, and request actions ====> Communications

3. Next read about some of the De-facto public safety situations that exist and therefore require immediate resolution and education of the public. DE-FACTO Fire Lanes in Evergreen=====>

4. Next read about just one of the types of liability that taxpayers can incur. Cherry Creek School District News Report ===>

5. Next ponder the well documented efforts described on this web site as a case study of how the lack of a local democratic government makes it so difficult to achieve, for the deserving souls in Evergreen, the same basic safety, security, and well-being taken for granted by other non-rural Coloradans. Then read about some of the options available to an organized public to solve the public safety problems in Evergreen. Evergreen public safety achievement options ===>

Some pages on this website are static. They record events that have happened and document actions that have been taken. They provide an invaluable history so that we don’t have to repeat ourselves. So they remain but do not have to be revisited very often.

Other pages however, are dynamic. They contain ideas and options being acted upon and reports of progress being achieved. These pages will frequently contain NEW material of interest. We are now working on the design of attention grabbing indicators that will direct visitors to NEW materials. So, look for these indicators on your return.
